The buying process

While you can technically purchase property in Chile without even being there, it is highly recommended you visit the country to find your ideal home.

Looking for property

As there is a relatively large number of expats looking for property in Chile, there is a large range of dedicated websites and magazines in English. In popular areas such as Santiago, Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, it’s relatively easy to find available property. In other areas, it can be much harder to locate property for sale.

Aside from real estate agencies, you can look for property at any of these places:

  • Notary office boards
  • Land registry office boards
  • Local newspapers
  • Websites

Visiting the property

Once you have found your dream home, you will need to notify the real estate agent to arrange a viewing. They will give you an ordena de visita, which confirms the commission payable to the agent as well as stating the property you will visit.
