Advices on shared accomodation

• Hello dear all,
  I am a DAAD-student. I am about to sign a rental contract. But I want to know more about shared flat. In fact, I want my wife, who is currently abroad to join me withtin the coming couple of months. So is the German law allows a couple to live in a shared flat or not. The tenants of the room I am interested withis Ok, as well as the others (2) tenants. So is it agood opportunity to catch or are there any restrictions according to German law? I am very interested on that offering.
