It depends what kind of scenery you like. Avoid northen France. South of France is lovely. the following regions are beautifull Limousin; Perigord; Dordogne; Ardeche.
Limousin is deep rural France, very typical, hilly with lots of forrest. Many English people have setteled there.
the other regions are very lovely. I haven't travelled that much in my country.
